How to setup your own import URL?
  • Simple URL
    addAliveText://www.interpearl.com/;decode=UTF8?subject#body
    - subject is optional
    - body is optional
  • Advanced URL (from v.1.4.2)
    addAliveText://www.interpearl.com/;decode=UTF8;sms=1;
    group2=0;group3=0;group4=0;?subject#body

The above URL means: Decode the message with UTF-8 and set only the subject to be sent when SMS, and the template message will only be visible for your Family group
    - decode is required for correct decoding
    - sms is optional
    - group1-4 is optional
    - subject is optional
    - body is optional/preferred

Valid parameter values for decode are UTF8, ASCII, MacOSRoman and UTF16BigEndian
    * We recommend you to use UTF8 (search the web for encoding UTF-8 tools)
    * If param is missing we use MacOSRoman (may change, so use correct parameter values)
    * If you´d like to have additional transformation formats, send an email to support@interpearl.com

Valid parameter values for sms are 0, 1, 2, and 3
    * sms=0 - If SMS, don´t send Message template, then the template is only valid for Emails
    * sms=1 - If SMS, only send subject
    * sms=2 - If SMS, only send body, the message.
    * sms=3 - If SMS, send both subject and body (message), default value

Valid parameter values for group1-4 are 0 and 1
    * group1=0 - message not visible in the Family group
    * group1=1 - message visible in the Family group

    * group2=0 - message not visible in the Friends group
    * group2=1 - message visible in the Friends group

    * group3=0 - message not visible in the Work group
    * group3=1 - message visible in the Work group

    * group4=0 - message not visible in the Other group
    * group4=1 - message visible in the Other group
default value is visible (group1-4 parameters not required in URL if visible for all groups).

If you don´t have the tools to create the URL, create the template in Alive Text and send the shared template to yourself and copy/paste the complete URL into your own web page or html Email.
FAQ
  • The contact codes, ex. (xcf), does not work for Groups?
Sorry, it´s not possible to loop though you group members in the background and send Text/SMS/Email messages without You pressing the Send button. If Apple in a future version of iOS will support it, we can create personal group messages as well, until then use contact codes only on your favorites templates.
  • How to restart Alive Text
If you have iPhone 3G S or iPhone 4, double click the home button to see the multitasking list, find the Alive Text icon. Hold down the finger tip on top of the icon until the icons vibrate, then press the red minus button on the Alive Text icon and then start Alive Text.
  • I would like to send the same template message to several people (multiple SMS/Text or Email), how can I do that?
Upgrade to v.2.8.2 and create your own SMS and Email multi recipient groups.

Or, You can add more recipients in both SMS and Emails after you have pressed the Email or Text/SMS button.

If you would like to add more SMS recipients on iOS 4:
After you have pressed the SMS button. Tap on the top/first row where you have the name of your favorite/contact or tap on the name itself, you should now see a blue + button coming up at the right side, press the + button and add more recipients/contacts! If you would like to add more Email recipients:

Add as many as you like to receive your message template.

  • I have changed the Settings, but my change does not show up, it's the same?
On iOS 4 with support for multitasking you have to manually restart Alive Text for the Settings options to be visible/active in the App.
Double tap the home button to see the multitasking list, find the Alive Text icon. Hold down the finger tip on top of the icon until the icons vibrate, then press the red minus button on the Alive Text icon and then start Alive Text. The Settings changes are know activated.
  • I don´t have Photos on some of my contacts yet, will the Cover Flow interface still work?
Yes, if photos are missing we use a default photo and print your contacts name on the photos, it works fine!
  • When adding a Favorite, some only shows me a list of telephone numbers? How to add them as well?
You must select one of them by tap your finger tip on the phone number in the list (Tap on the phone number you will use for the contact when they have more than one, add the contact twice or more if you need several numbers for different needs, different templates).
  • How to add or change a photo?
Tap the Edit button in the detail view of either favorites or messages, then you will see the current picture turn darker or a new larger black/white photo will show up. Then Tap directly on the photo and the modify options will be presented for you.
Try even to Tap on the photo when not in edit mode.
  • I don´t see the SMS message?
You have to Paste the message into your SMS text field to see it. Double tap on the text field and select Paste.
At present, it is not possible to auto load the message directly into the field. Upgrade to iOS 4 and the text will be placed into the field and be ready to Send!
  • How to Paste?
You have to double tap or hold down your fingertip in the text field to display the magnified view and then when your finger is lifted, the Paste option becomes available for you. Select Paste and the text is placed into the field.
  • What is the priority of mapping codes, can I override ex. (xcf) with my own code?
YES, your own codes are mapped first, so you are able to create your own versions of our internal codes, ex your Code xMyLanguageFirstnameCode could be mapped correctly if you map your code to the Text (xcf) in My codes. Be aware that users receiving your shared templates don´t have the same codes, so don´t replace our internal codes if you will like to have the option to share message templates with your friends and colleagues.
  • Can Alive Text be used on my iPad or iPod touch?
Yes, Alive Text works fine for all of you with a iPad or a iPod touch. The SMS options are then hidden. From our next version (after v.2.4.0) will we support Message Templates also for Skype Chat on iPad and iPod touch in the same way as we support SMS on OS 3.# today. v.2.4.0 have Skype support for calls and chat without use of templates.
